四賀キャニオンと磨崖仏
新聞に四賀キャニオンが紹介された。松本市内にあるキャニオンはどんなところかと訪ねてみた。岩井堂の左手の松林を進むと突如として視界が開け、迫力満点の砂岩層が現れた。グランドキャニオンと言うよりアンテロープキャニオンを想像させる景観であった。また、磨崖仏といえば大分県臼杵の石仏が有名であるが、ここ四賀にも磨崖仏があるとは思いもよらなかった。
A newspaper article reported the Shiga Canyon. My masters went to see that canyon in Matsumoto to know what kind of scenery it was. While looking at the Iwai temple to the left hand, they walked in a pine forest. Then view opened out suddenly, and the sandstone layers appeared. They imagined Antelope canyon from that scenery. Unexpectedly, they saw a Magaibutsu (the image of Buddha inscribed on the cliff) in Iwai temple.
