主人が子供のころ北海道の銘菓と言えばトラピストクッキーであった。今だに修道院の写真が写った缶入りパッケージは遠い記憶の中にある。「トラピスト修道院」は函館市近郊の北斗市に位置し、津軽海峡を見おろす小高い丘に建つ修道院である。今回は修道女が暮らす「天使の聖母トラピスチヌ修道院」を訪ねた。外壁の煉瓦と紅葉が印象的であった。（10/27）
