御神渡り
“御神渡り”は諏訪湖の冬の風物詩である。諏訪湖の湖面が全面結氷後に数日間気温が下がると氷の厚さが増し、氷が昼夜の温度差により膨張と収縮を繰り返えした結果として諏訪湖の南岸から北岸にかけて轟音とともに氷が裂けて山脈の様に盛り上がったものが“御神渡り”である。半世紀前までは2メートル近くまで盛り上がったと言うが最近では出現しない年もあり、また出現しても数十センチ以下である。1980年代は7回、1990年代は2回、2000年は4回、2010年代はこれまで3回と減少している。これも地球温暖化の影響か。
“御神渡り”は諏訪神社上社の男神が諏訪神社下社の女神のもとに通った道筋というロマンチックな言い伝えがある。“御神渡り”には“一の御渡り”、“二の御渡り”と“佐久の御渡り”の３筋が出来るというから三日三晩通ったことになるのか。

全面結氷に輝く Brightness of the ice
The “Omiwatari” is a winter natural scene, which adds poetic charm to the winter-season of the Lake Suwa. When a cold day continues for several days after water froze entirely, thickness of the ice increases. The ice, which froze thick, does the expansion and the shrinkage by the difference of temperature of the night and day. As a result, ice is split with a roaring sound and swells like a mountain range. This is the “Omiwatari”. They say that the ices swelled to nearly 2 meters until half a century ago, but the ices swell recently less than dozens of centimeters even if it appears. In late years, the frequency of the “Omiwatari” appears decreases.
"The ice cracks" have the romantic legend called the route that a male deity of the Kamisha of Suwa-jinja Shrine passed to the goddess of the Shimosha of Suwa-jinja Shrine.

National Treasure Matsumoto-jo Castle Ice Caving Festival 2018
Annual national treasure Matsumoto-jo Castle ice carving Festival 2018 (Matsumoto-jo Castle park) was held this year. A fight with the ice began at midnight. My masters went to the castle at about 9:00 and watched fights with the ices. A fight with the ice would continue overnight. They saw the bristling of the group of wonderful ice backed by Matsumoto-jo Castle and push the shutter. The ice-carvings were lighted up, and fantastic atmospheres were created. The Northern Alps were stained with light Morgenrot at about 7:00.

恒例の国宝松本城氷彫フェスティバル2018（松本城公園）が今年も開催された。夜半から氷との格闘が始まった。我が猫ジローの主人達は9：00頃お城に出かけ小一時間氷との格闘を見てきた。天気予報では厳しい寒波になると報じていたが例年になく暖かい晩であったことから我が猫ジローの主人は日が昇ると溶け始めるのではないかと心配しながら床に入った。本朝5時前にお城に出かけた。氷との格闘が一晩中続いたのだろう。松本城を背景に見事な氷の群像の林立を目にしてシャッターを押したようだ。氷彫はライトアップされ幻想的な雰囲気が作り出された。体を温めるようにと奥さんが豚汁を買ってきた。7：00頃北アルプスが淡いモルゲンロートに染まった。
