四賀キャニオンー石炭
松本市四賀化石館のブログを読んで驚いた。岡谷はかつて製糸生産高が国内の４分の１を占めたと言うがその産業を支えた石炭は岩井堂炭鉱から搬出されたと言う。岩井観音堂の裏手の岩の一部が大きく削られているところが有ったが、まさにそこが炭鉱の入り口の痕跡とのことである。

My master was surprised to read the document of the Shiga fossil hall. A quarter of the domestic raw silk was produced in Okaya. According to the document, the coal which supported the silk-industry was mined from Iwai temple coalmine.
